Who is recommended mastopexy
Mastopexy (breast lift) is a cosmetic surgery procedure whose purpose is to correct and aesthetically reshape the shape of the breasts. Most commonly, patients resort to this technique at the end of breastfeeding or after a significant weight loss, but there are other medical indications for breast lift surgery:
- Breasts are sagging and/or uneven;
- Breasts have a low volume;
- The nipples are bent;
- The areolae are extensive.
Depending on each person's specific situation, a breast lift may be accompanied by other procedures: breast augmentationin the case of small breasts, and breast reductionin the case of large breasts.
How to perform a breast lift (breast lift surgery)
The mastopexy procedure (breast lift surgery) is a surgical procedure performed by a plastic surgeon under total anesthesia. Depending on the indications of each patient, a prosthesis may or may not be necessary. During the initial consultation, the doctor will measure and analyse the breasts to determine if there is enough breast tissue and if the breast gland is dense enough to avoid the use of an implant.
TYPES OF INCISION
In either case, the operation involves several types of incision that are determined according to the characteristics of the breasts.
Incision "anchor"
It is done around the areola, from here it descends perpendicular to the breast crease, where it continues through a horizontal incision. It is intended for people whose breast laxity is very accentuated. This type of incision, which leaves the largest scar, is often used for a facelift combined with a breast reduction.
The "lollipop" or "key" incision
It is made around the areola and descends vertically from the areola to the crease of the breast. It is suitable for moderate breast ptosis, when the periareolar technique does not help and when the patient does not want a breast implant operation.
The "doughnut" lift or periareolar incision
It is drawn around the perimeter of the areola and is intended for patients with a minimal to medium degree of ptosis. It can also be used in the case of accentuated breast ptosis, if an implant is also accepted.
The scarless facelift
It is aimed at people who are more concerned about volume loss than breast sagging.
Breast lift with Polytech silicone implants
At Cronos Med we use prostheses Polytech-Diagon Gel 4Twodesigned and developed by Doctor Constantin Stantogether with the German firm Polytech, and considered, worldwide, the safest breast implants.
Made of two types of gel, they faithfully copy the breast gland and offer maximum shape stability and a natural dynamic behaviour of the breast. The silicone gel inside does NOT leak and has a memory, retaining its shape.
Polytech implants are natural to the touch, mimicking the young breast. The choice of prosthesis is made individually for each patient, based on precise measurements, entered into a computer program developed by Dr. Constantin Stan and approved by Polytech.
The prostheses are guaranteed for 10 years in terms of their integrity and the risk of major contractile capsule grade 4.
Recovery after breast lift surgery
- You will sleep on your back in an inclined position at 25-45 degrees;
- You will avoid hot showers and baths, as well as saunas, for three weeks;
- You will avoid strenuous physical activity during the first two weeks after surgery;
- You will avoid sexual activity for a minimum of one to two weeks;
- The wires will be removed gradually over three weeks;
- Periodic discomfort is normal and can be controlled with mild analgesics.
Results of breast lift procedure
Consecutive results breast lift surgery varies depending on the surgical technique used. During the initial consultation, the doctor will discuss all these aspects with each patient individually, depending on the observations made and her personal expectations.
LIFTING MAMAR
The results are long-lasting (unless pregnancy or large weight fluctuations intervene). Minor changes will still occur as time passes, but the new nipple position remains unchanged.
BREAST LIFT WITH IMPLANT
Patient expectations must be realistic. In the first few months after surgery the breasts may appear firmer, higher positioned or larger than expected. It is temporary. The final results can only be properly appreciated 3 months post-augmentation, when the breast settles into a natural position due to gravity and any trace of oedema disappears. The results are much more long-lasting than in the case of simple mastopexy without breast implant.

What is mastopexy?
Mastopexy is a surgical procedure to change the shape and appearance of sagging or asymmetrical breasts. Also called breast lift, this procedure contributes to a rejuvenated-looking bust. During breast lift surgery, the surgeon removes excess skin and repositions the breasts without interfering with their size. This procedure can also be used in combination with breast implants, when breast augmentation is desired, but also in combination with the breast reduction procedure, depending on the patient's needs and wishes.
When is the mastopexy procedure indicated?
Breasts undergo changes with age, pregnancy or weight changes. Tissue can lose its firmness and elasticity, and ligaments at this level can stretch and sag. The mastopexy procedure may be an option for you if your breasts have changed shape and volume, have become asymmetrical, and your nipples are drooping. The results of breast lift surgery may be affected by a new pregnancy or breastfeeding period, so it is advisable to talk to a doctor specialising in cosmetic surgery to find out if this type of procedure could give you the results you want. We welcome you in Cronos Med clinics for a personalized treatment plan.
What is the recovery procedure after mastopexy?
Your doctor will give you information about the steps you should take after mastopexy. In general, local pain and discomfort are likely to occur and your doctor may recommend mild painkillers. The incisions may remain red or pink for several months, and you will need to wear a support bra for the first few days, then a softer support bra for 3-4 weeks. Your doctor may also recommend that you avoid sexual activity for 1-2 weeks after the breast lift procedure.
