Each of the tissue types present in the body is an essential component in the proper functioning of vital systems. Adipose tissue is no exception, but its excess accumulation can lead to real health problems. In addition, from an aesthetic point of view, excess fat causes dissatisfaction and frustration among those who experience it. Here's exactly what fat tissue is, what its benefits are for the body and how you can keep it within normal limits.

What is adipose tissue and what are adipocytes

Adipose tissue is one of the types of connective tissue present in the body and is made up of cells called adipocytes (fat cells). The contents of adipocytes are triglycerides, which are triple esters of glycerol with fatty acids. Also known generically as fat, adipose tissue has a wide distribution in the body and performs many functions, but it can become a health hazard when it is present in excess or, conversely, when there is a deficit of adipose tissue in the body.

There are two main types of adipose tissue:

  • white adipose tissue - is responsible for storing energy in the form of triglycerides, a process called lipogenesis. In addition, when necessary, white adipose tissue triggers lipolysis (the breakdown of triglyceride deposits into fatty acids) to generate energy;
  • brown and beige adipose tissue - oxidizes fatty acids and glucose, resulting in energy consumption and thermogenesis (heat production). When found in optimal concentration in the body, brown adipose tissue is responsible for preventing diabetes and other metabolic diseases.

Adipose tissue - location and roles

The adipose tissue is subcutaneous and is mainly found in the abdomen, legs and thighs. However, adipose tissue is also found in some organs, such as the heart and kidneys, and around the main blood vessels.

The roles that adipose tissue plays in the body are multiple and particularly important for proper organ function. Among the functions of adipose tissue, we mention the following:

  • When the body no longer gets enough nutrients, it uses triglyceride deposits in adipocytes. The breakdown of triglycerides results in two sources of energy: fatty acids and glycerol;
  • Adipose tissue plays a role in the body's thermoregulation, through the activity of brown adipose tissue, which, in cold conditions, stimulates the oxidation of the energy sources mentioned above, generating heat;
  • Adipose tissue also plays a role in hormonal regulation, through the secretion of adiponectin, a hormone designed to speed up metabolism. In this way, the body properly burns fat for energy;
  • Given the role that adipose tissue plays in maintaining a balanced metabolism, its activity in the body leads to maintaining body weight within normal limits, but also to the prevention of diabetes and cardiovascular disease;
  • Adipose tissue also has a notable impact on the immune system, by protecting internal organs (for example, the small intestine) from the action of toxins and microbes contracted by the body.

How to remove unwanted fat tissue

When the amount of fat in the body is out of balance, whether we are talking about an excess of fat or, on the contrary, about a deficit of fat tissue, metabolic dysfunctions occur. So, if you find yourself in a situation where it is necessary to reduce the amount of fat tissue, it is useful to know the methods by which you can achieve satisfactory results.

Food regime

Diet plays an essential role in maintaining optimal lipid levels in the body. Elevated triglyceride values cause the accumulation of triglycerides in the form of fat deposits, leading to an increase in the volume of adipocytes. At the same time, a high concentration of triglycerides represents a danger for the health of the cardiovascular system, but also for certain organs (liver, pancreas, etc.).

With the help of a proper diet, you can reduce some of the excess accumulated fat tissue. For example, eating a reduced number of calories each day is an effective way to get your body to burn off fat deposits, reducing them over time. At the same time, it is essential to maintain a balanced ratio of nutrients at each meal and to consume carbohydrates and proteins from as natural sources as possible.

Aerobic exercise, such as running on the treadmill, jumping rope or using the stepper, has proven to be particularly effective when it comes to losing weight and reducing fat deposits in the body. At the same time, strength exercises can be a reliable aid to efficient calorie consumption. A constant exercise routine, 2-3 times a week, together with a diet aimed at eliminating fat deposits, is an important step towards a healthier body and less prone to metabolic or cardiovascular diseases.

Medical aesthetic procedures

Advanced technology in the field of medical aesthetics has led to the development of effective procedures to remove unwanted fat layers. Today, there are many non-invasive procedures that offer fast and long-lasting results. These include:

  • LPG Alliance Platform - a therapeutic method used, in the beginning, by physiotherapy specialists, endermology is a procedure that, by mechanically stimulating the tissues, leads to visible results in the treatment of cellulite and the elimination of fat stored in the abdomen, thighs or legs. At the same time, LPG Alliance is an effective way to treat tissue water retention;
  • LIPOZERO™ - the five technologies available in this device work synergistically to reduce cellulite, stretch marks and fat deposits. The revolutionary LIPOZERO™ system is also effective in improving the elasticity and appearance of the skin by stimulating tissue oxygenation;
  • Endospheres Therapy - the only device in the world based on compressive microvibration technology, Endospheres acts effectively on tissues, promoting the elimination of excess water and improving tissue tone;
  • The Emerald Laser - The Emerald device's state-of-the-art technology delivers long-lasting results when it comes to reducing fatty tissue deposits without destroying cell structure. The procedure is painless and does not cause thermal discomfort.

If you wish to undergo a treatment aimed at reducing excess fat tissue, Cronos Med specialists are ready to advise you so that you can benefit from the most suitable therapeutic methods. Following a thorough consultation, the specialist will recommend the appropriate treatment for your health condition.

Prevention of excess fat tissue

The methods of preventing the accumulation of excess fat have both an aesthetic role and to avoid the development of severe diseases. Triglycerides present in concentrations above normal limits can affect both the liver and pancreas, as well as the entire cardiovascular system. This can lead to health problems such as strokes, myocardial infarction and atherosclerosis. As with methods of reducing excess fat, prevention involves a balanced diet and a well-planned exercise programme.

The importance of adipose tissue for the body is unquestionable, but it is necessary to monitor its levels regularly. If you are experiencing excess fat accumulation and wish to benefit from appropriate therapeutic methods, program a specialist consultation and find out which options are right for you.
