Fractionated CO2 laser therapy

Your skin's ally

The skin is our largest organ and by far the most visible. Besides many other functions (sensing, thermoregulation, communication, shielding) it also acts as a protective covering. This means that it receives all the "blows" it is subjected to on a daily basis, throughout our lives: pollution, extreme temperatures, exposure to the sun, contact with various substances, more or less important aggressions.

As well as external influences, the skin also reflects what is going on in our body. Diet, lifestyle, rest or lack of it, all ultimately reflect on the health of the skin. Add to this the changes brought about by the normal ageing process and you will find that our skin is extremely resilient.

But even so, or maybe that's why skin care should be one of our major concerns. And while the basic steps of moisturising and sun protection are indispensable, sometimes it takes more than that to restore health and a pleasant appearance to our skin tissue.

The latest laser therapies are proving to be extremely useful in treating many skin problems, and at Cronos Med we offer several types of lasers with multiple uses. One of the most effective therapies is the fractional CO2 laser, the most advanced technology available today for skin resurfacing, wrinkle and scar removal.

With three modes of operation: Continuous, Super Pulse and Pulser, the device can be adjusted to adapt perfectly to each type of protocol. Another advantage is that unlike ablative lasers, fractional lasers do not work on the entire skin surface but only on a fraction of it. The results are comparable to those of ablative or non-ablative lasers, but without the side effects and long recovery time.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE FOR FRACTIONAL LASER SKIN RESURFACING SHOWS:

  • skin affected by the harmful action of the sun
  • wrinkles around the eyes and mouth and laxity in the lower eyelid area
  • vertical wrinkles around the mouth
  • unusual changes in skin pigment such as blemishes or brown spots
  • scars that give an irregular appearance to the skin
  • precancerous growths on the skin

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The laser sculpts small holes in the deep layer of skin and the skin tightens by joining the dots. These lasers do not cause damage on the surface but deep down. The devices are used to treat fine lines, deep wrinkles, sun damage, post-acne scars and melasma (hyperpigmentation spots). Depending on the skin type, the depth of the sun's action on the skin, the area of irregular pigmentation and the depth of skin imperfections, the surgeon may recommend a therapy that combines several skin resurfacing devices during the same treatment session to achieve optimal results.

Medical studies show that fractional laser therapy remains a highly valued treatment method in dermatology, with minimal risks and amazing, long-lasting results. The ideal time for this type of treatment is autumn or winter, when the days are short and the sun's rays are not too strong, so that the patient's post-procedure exposure to the sun is minimal.

How does the fractional laser work?

Fractionated CO2 laser emits energy that removes the top layer of skin with greater precision and stimulates the formation of new cells. The practical, fractional CO2 laser treatment causes a type of thermal injury, in a controlled way, which stimulates the formation of new collagen and skin rejuvenation. After applying the CO2 laser, a new layer of skin begins to form, which is generally thinner, firmer and more elastic. Unlike the traditional laser, the fractionated laser splits the light beam into several smaller diameter beams, penetrating the skin at multiple points and reducing the risk of side effects.
